I never did use any of the dried potato products in Germany, so unfortunately I can't give you any advice. I'm sure they're very similar to the same type of products in the U.S. in terms of how you use them, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Germans have even more varieties and uses for them given their love of potatoes.
